Breast Augmentation or breast enhancement has been popular since first performed in 1962. In 2009, it was the #1 cosmetic surgical operation performed in the United States. Breast augmentation has been extremely popular in Scottsdale, Mesa and the Phoenix area for many years and Dr. Wesley G. Wilson has done as many if not more than anyone in the state of Arizona.
Breast augmentation is the surgical placement of breast implants to increase fullness and projection of the breasts or to improve symmetry.
Breast augmentation can:

Perfect breast size is a very individual thing and your breast augmentation surgery is planned just for you and just you. Dr. Wilson will listen to your desires, take measurements and suggest a size that fits your body’s form. This is the starting point. You can then select larger or smaller implant sizes depending on your desired result. The choice is yours.
Although we often think of breast size in terms of cup size it is far more important to “look right”. This is the importance of matching the right size implant for your frame, waist, and hips. Balance, proportion and contour is what cosmetic plastic surgery is all about. You should get what you want.
If the breasts are saggy than a
breast lift may be needed to achieve correct shape. If implants have already been placed then patient should seek
implant exchange.
Both Saline breast implants and Silicone breast implants are offered. Allergan Natrelle® and Mentor MemoryGel® breast implants are available. These are the only two brands available and approved by the FDA.
Depending on an individual’s breast shape, implants may be placed using the biplaner technique (under the pectoralis major muscle) or subglandular (over the muscle but under natural breast tissue).

Common incision locations in breast augmentation include:
- Under arm (arm pit, transaxillary)
- Nipple (periareolar)
- Under breast (inframammary)
The incision size is exaggerated on this diagram and is usually only 1 to 1.5 inches.
Breast Augmentation with saline implant can be easily placed through all three incisions. The implant is placed deflated into the carefully created pocket, then filled with saline once in place.
Silicone gel implants are already filled to a specified size making very difficult to place through an underarm incision and therefore it is recommended placement through the under breast or nipple incision.

Other common names for this procedure are: breast enhancement, augmentation mammoplasty, boob job, or breast job.
The surgery takes just over 1 hour to perform. General anesthesia is recommended. Recovery is between 24-48 hrs with some soreness for 3-5 days. Return to work in 3-5 days and most patients return to full activity in 2 weeks.

A 475cc Mentor moderate profile saline implant was placed submuscular with incision under breast in the inframammary fold and filled to 525cc.

32 year old female, 5’5” 125lbs. Desiring breast augmentation in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa area. Wanting fullness back in her breasts that she had pre-pregnancy. A 550cc Mentor high profile cohesive silicone gel implant was placed submuscular with incision under the breast in the inframammary fold.

39 year old female, 5’9” 138 lbs. Desiring breast augmentation in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa area. Patient desired larger more proportional breast. A 500cc Mentor high profile cohesive silicone gel implant was placed submuscular with incision under the breast in the inframammary fold.
Case Eleven
24 year old female, 5’8” 160 lbs. Desiring breast augmentation in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa area. Patient desired fuller, firmer looking breasts. She had significant droop to her breast but did not want the scars of a breast lift or mastopexy. A 550cc Mentor high profile cohesive silicone gel implant was placed subglandular or above the muscle to fill the loose tissue with incision under the breast in the inframammary fold.
Case Twelve
46 year old female, 5’4” 130lbs. Desiring breast augmentation in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa area. Patient desired more fullness in breasts that she lost as she aged. A 457cc Midrange Natrelle cohesive matrix silicone gel implant was placed submuscular with incision under the breast in the inframammary fold.

26 year old female, 5’3” 113 lbs. Desiring breast augmentation in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa area. Patient desired larger breasts and better proportion. A 400cc high profile cohesive matrix Natrelle silicone gel implant was placed submuscular with incision under the breast in the inframammary fold.
Case Fifteen
52 year old, 5’5″ 119lbs who was seen in Scottsdale for breast augmentation to obtain fuller but natural size and shaped breast. A 425 cc mentor high profile silicone gel breast implant was used and placed through the inframammary fold. Placement was in the biplaner or submuscular position. She indicated she was an A cup preoperative and is now a full C.
Case Sixteen
49 year old, 5’7″, 131 lbs seen in Phoenix area office for breast augmentation. She wanted fuller, perky, yet natural breasts. 500 cc mentor, high profile silicone gel implants where placed through the infra mammary approach in the bi-planer or submuscular position. She reported that her cup size was small B pre op and mid to D post op.
Case Seventeen
22 year old, 5’3″, 98 lbs. Patient seen in the Mesa, East Valley area office for breast augmentation / enhancement. She desired some shape and size to her breasts. A 325 cc high profile mentor silicone gel implant was used and placed in the submuscular or biplaner position through an incision under the breast. Cup size pre op was A-. Post op she is a full C to small D. Patient desired to not show front view to avoid a recognizable mark on right side of body.
Case Eighteen
34 year old, 5’8″ 208 lbs, Seen in East Valley, Mesa area office for breast augmentation / breast enhancement surgery consultation. She desired a better shaped breast with a larger size and more proportionate for her chest width. Because of her breast shape and tight lower portion of her medial breast, a 700 cc high profile Natrelle silicone get implants were placed through incisions in the inframammary fold and the implants were placed subglandular or above the muscle. Post of photos are only 6 weeks out so incisions are still visible but will fade and disappear with time.
